Smartie Pants reminds Miss Snuffleupagus why she chose her nom de plume:

‘You chose Snuffleupagus because of Big Bird.’

I make a face to show that I’m not following.

Smartie sighs. ‘Because Big Bird was the only one who could see Snuffleupagus. Whenever Big Bird would call the others to meet him, Snuffleupagus would disappear, and no one would believe Big Bird that Snuffleupagus existed.’

Miss Snuffleupagus is a black teacher in inner city London.
