The Color of Error

There is a book that has crossed my desk a few times:

Why Black Men Love White Women: Going Beyond Sexual Politics To The Heart Of The Matter, by a Rajen Persaud.

The book is obviously a load of crap. I haven't read it, but I thumbed through it enough to realize the author is reaching every which way to convince the reader that black men who are attracted to white women are somehow wrong and betraying their race.

Meanwhile, biology suggests interracial attraction is bound primarily by musculature. Men seek the most feminine, and therefore least muscled. Women like muscle, but apparently have a stronger impetus to mate within their race. Black women tend to have more muscle than other women; asian men tend to have the least muscle among men. So, one assumes these two groups are among the most likely to not like interracial couples.

Now, I don't know about you, but I think the explanation from the biological perspective is not racist, while the pathetic psychobabble in this book is not only racist, but also seriously unhelpful to any young black woman that gets her hands on this book. I can imagine any man who had to listen to this junk would eventually bolt, leave the state, and, if he ever dated again, would seek out women who looked entirely unlike his lecturer.
