Respecting Elders

Another thing I don't get is how certain Christains can just blithely assume that all the generations that came before were somehow wrong, somehow not responding to Christ in the choices they made. Underneath that soft, fuzzy, just-love-God attitude is arrogance of colossal proportions. Our ancestors in the faith must number in the billions! Hey, you know me, I'm no big believer in democracy, so yeah, all those billions could be wrong, but I am a believer in the Holy Spirit.

We can't play like history is a chasm, with the early Church on one side, us on the other, and nary an important thing between. These too are our brothers, and we know how dangerous it is to our soul to call one a fool. How much more is the folly of calling so many foolish?
