Father Zuhldorf has a piece up about clapping in church. The short version- apparently it's not a good idea. I think I understand.
Incidentally, I remember hearing something similar in charismatic circles as well.
I haven't heard anyone remark on it in a while, and everyone seems happy to clap as they please. Perhaps this is an attention issue; can we really pay attention to God while clapping? It's certainly easy to lose a sense of the Lord and end up with a sense not unlike what one gets at a sports event, or a rock concert.
Not that there's necessarily anything wrong with that.
I just wonder if we are missing anything.
