Coffee Shop Politics

I went to the coffee shop tuesday night, and when I walked in there was this long haired guy haranguing the girls behind the counter about politics. I did not join the conversation since I did not want the girls to get the general impression that all long haired guys go about haranguing girls about politics. Besides, the dude was a bit nutty, continuing to talk loudly enough to be heard through the whole place while they were getting me my coffee.

Anyway, at some point he asked on of them, "If you did vote, who would you vote for?"

I don't know if she's even old enough to vote, but she said McCain, and her reasoning was pretty sound.

First, both candidates lie.
Second, McCain lies, but at least he talks enough so that you get a general idea of what he wants to do. Obama just talks about change, but he doesn't get specific.
Third, and this is probably the most important, she doesn't actually like McCain- she would vote as her best guess, for the lesser of two evils.

There's a pretty good chance she'll be a libertarian, or at least a proud non-voter, after one or two more elections.

You know that saying that if you don't vote, you can't complain?
Yeah, that's not going to work anymore. In a few years time, assuming there isn't massive reform, if you vote, you will be blamed.
