No Reverence For Dead Men

The American Papist just linked to The Catholic Key, which apparently does investigative journalism. They've done a series of posts, one, two, and three on the lack of consent forms with regard to the human bodies in the 'Bodies Revealed' exhibit. Essentially, there is no paper trail proving legal possesion of the Chinese corpses used in the exhibit.

I'm not all that surprised that people who cannot be respectful of the dead wouldn't be too bothered about paperwork. Burying the dead is a corporal work of mercy; many of the actions taken in the name of science seem to betray mercy's absence in the hearts of men. I have become more sensitive to this over time; I used to watch archeology shows without thinking about it.

Art in the death culture deconstructs man. Separate spirit, soul, body, skin, bone, etc... If we had an exhibition illuminating the whole man, would our modern society recognize it as art?
