Those Entangling Alliances

I wanted to write about Russia, Georgia, et al, but the situation is such a mess, there isn't much good to say about it, nor any policy to deal with it. But there is one thing: let's get rid of NATO. It's like bad crack for Russia's next door neighbors. We can't let Georgia be in NATO, but we wander around pretending like we might. And Georgia proceeds to prove how quickly it'll get us into a conflict with Russia. Through subjugating separatists, no less. I'm supposed to be upset when jack-booted thugs get busted by jack-booted thugs? Sadly, these men cause alot mayhem for more appropriately booted as well.

We need to get a lot more realistic about the extent of our influence.
