Sheldon Richman explains the Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae takeover:
These government-favored corporations -- which were never market institutions -- have been a disaster in many ways, and now they will cost the taxpayers $200 billion to $500 billion.
Much like individualism getting the rap for everything from egalitarianism to plain old selfishness, capitalism, and free markets get blamed for all that is wrong with corporatism.
Corporations are children of the government, as has become obvious now that Daddy pays the bills, with our money, no less.
