The Double Edged Poll

A Gallup polls indicates there is no increase in proportion of first time voters.

This certainly confirms a certain bias I have. The left loves to highjack the youth as somehow their own. The consistently do these youth oriented, MTV style things, and yet the youth who can vote generally don't. I think it's more about them trying to sell themselves as young rather than a genuine attempt to get young people to vote. Both parties are still pandering to an older audience in terms of policy.

The other edge of the blade:

Interviews are conducted with respondents on land-line telephones (for respondents with a land-line telephone) and cellular phones (for respondents who are cell-phone only).

How many first time voters are going to let you waste their minutes for your stupid poll? The stats could be way off here and there isn't anyway to know. I don't think polls are very helpful at all, whether they confirm my bias or not.
