I can't watch any of these clips, but I get the distinct impression she's not messing things up because she's stupid. I think she's messing things up because she has to lie in order to echo McCain's position, and she's just not a good liar.
I've seen a journalist ask her a question- usually it's global warming, or some other issue that they are betting she disagrees with him on, and I see Palin do some sort of full body repositioning, which indicates to me an internal struggle between what she believes to be true and what she believes John McCain wants her to say, and then I have to change the channel, or stop the video, etc...
I have trouble with those Ben Stiller movies too. Comedy that operates on the principles of embarassment make me feel embarassed for the character, which means I'm likely to get up and leave the theater rather than stay and watch. It's sad to feel such a similar reaction from the political realm.
Of course, I can't watch Obama or McCain either, but that's because I can't stand power hungry idiots and I'd like to make it through November with out breaking anything.
