For the most part, folks kinda quietly hide the illegal stuff that they do.
If someone reaches a certain threshold of illegality, many simply choose not to associate with them or do business with them. Unfortunately, no matter who wins this election, we will likely find merely avoiding the 'criminal' won't work for us anymore.
This is because many of us will have to do something illegal. Most likely you already are breaking laws. This is because of the sheer weight of political law, but I'm talking about the change that comes when we have to do illegal things in order to live and provide for our families. There is a difference between illegal and immoral, and I think many will need to rethink their impressions on the difference between the two.
The Federal Reserve and the Treasury continues to do exactly what they shouldn't do. Both candidates, of course, want to do more. Of course, there are plenty of bad regulations already in place. As time goes on more people will be in that uncomfortable position of realizing what they want to do is moral, but not illegal.
We have to spend a lot of time and effort in order to conclude that someone is acting illegally, but not immorally, so what this hinges on is whether or not the government makes the costs of legality even higher.
