Healing And Everything After

Mark 1: (43-45)Jesus sent him away at once with a strong warning: "See that you don't tell this to anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the sacrifices that Moses commanded for your cleansing, as a testimony to them." Instead he went out and began to talk freely, spreading the news. As a result, Jesus could no longer enter a town openly but stayed outside in lonely places. Yet the people still came to him from everywhere.

The powerful message of God coming to live with man, through the Temple, and then within us, encourages a different mindset. As Our Lord chose twelve apostles as a representation of Israel, so too, there can be no doubt there are Christian priests now just as there were priests in Israel. And we bickering tribes do a convincing rendition of everyone from Judah right down the list, with even a few pseudo-samaritans thrown in for good measure.

The Lord asks this man to present himself to the priest. This would provide a testimony to the priests, but also make the man a full member of Israel again. The parallels are staring us in the face. Do we imitate Christ? Or do we shun the priests and welcome the crowds?
