Shoes Are Made For Walking Too

And our soldier's boots have already walked all over you. Obama may actually live up to his campaign rhetoric and withdraw the troops, but Dr. Robert Lefever notes that even folks not in Obama's camp might have a reason to leave after the shoe throwing incident:

His countrymen will wonder why they sacrifice their sons and daughters in policing other parts of the world if this is to be the response.

This worries Dr. Lefever because Britian isn't doing too well either.

We need America. Otherwise we shall be at the mercy of the Russians. That may be precisely what the Left would want – but the rest of us should think twice before scorning the president of the United States of America.

Well, Britian may need America, but we don't need the hassle any more. What do people keep threatening us with? That Iraq will decend into civil war? Have you noticed the riots in Greece? How about the narco-war in Mexico? Or Russia, India, Pakistan, etc... Obama seems as prone to Wilsonianism as Bush ever was- he's willing to go to places like Darfur if we have a 'moral imperative', which can be far more broadly interpreted than the ridiculous lengths 'national security' previous administrations have been taken.

But maybe, like the automakers, like the bankers, maybe the nations around the world don't need to be bailed out any more. Maybe we ought to let some of them go out of business. In fact, we could use something new around here as well, but I digress. As for the Middle East, lets leave our shoe throwing friends alone. They may celebrate in the streets, but then they'll have to face a very powerful, and very nervous Israel. If we truly left, if we really stopped trying to come up with solutions, if we just said, "guys, we are tired of fooling with your mess," and went home...
