Government And Sin

If money were eggs, everyone would say what the government does with money was stealing. Suddenly there's twice as many eggs, but the exact same nutritional value. Perhaps they sneak in to your house with hypodermic needles and pull out some of fluid and then stick that into a reasonable facsimile of a shell. However it was done, people would know immediately that someone was stealing from them in some way. Even if they were able to miracously increase the amount of real eggs everywhere, we'd still have problems because we only want so many eggs in the first place.

But few ever say to government, "Thou Shalt Not Steal." It's hardly ever discussed in this manner.
