Local Testing

One of the aspects missing from the local movement is testing. A local lab would be pretty helpful, because local doesn't always mean free of toxins, nor does a big pile of trash necessarily mean something horrible. With a little pyrolysis, a whole range of waste products from our current regime can be turned into usable fuel. What to do with the leftover carbon? Well, is it just carbon, or does it have heavy metals or something in it?

The Fab labs book talked about folks in India testing milk; I think we need simple tests for a variety of things.
