I can't remember if I have said this explicitly, but if you live via St. Paul's exhortation to test each spirit, or you are one of these neo-pagans, so desperate for something real that you get on a plane to go to Peru so you can take really heavy psychedelics in the jungle, here's an observation:
There's a lot of stuff out there that just wants your attention. It could be people, it could be thoughts, it could be beings, and whatever they are, they don't necessarily care whether or not you paying attention to them means you end up weak, dead, or whatever.
That's one of the reasons I went on about perfect a few posts ago. Christianity has lost it's moorings, and most people don't know what's going on. When you don't know what's going on, the attention getters have an easier job. All they have to do is come up with something plausible, and considering the poor education these days, even the dumb ones seem to be having a field day.
Keep them at arms length, even if they are family. Occasionally they might come up with something that helps you, but you've got to know your destination. If you don't know your destination, they'll just keep you meandering around, going nowhere.
