Thoughts on Madness

The mad have a sort of pathetic coherency. As they lose rationality, they also lose access to a variety of choices, and their set of behaviours devolve as the descent continues. They may be random with regards to their timing, but their actions are entirely predictable in that they can only act within a particular set of actions.

The mad become isolated from their own humanity. The more aggressively they repeat these actions, the quicker the sphere of action narrows, and suddenly the archetype, the stereotype, and even the caricature becomes frighteningly accurate.
