French Cinema in One Easy Lesson

Can We Kiss?

This short film (6:13min) is a perfect example of the French approach. Experiencing the emotion is the important part, resolving the plot is not. I think this is brilliant because you get to see a metaphor for the french movie on the screen. The simulation becomes real enough to elicit genuine emotion.

Of course, we want to know how things turn out, does the actress get her part, what happens to the couple, do they kiss or not... none of which has anything to do with that moment right there in the cafe.
