People Are Wrong On The Internet!

Duh!

Stephan assumes evolution will somehow change the minds of people who believe in evolution:

What many people don't realize is that the facts point overwhelmingly toward evolution.

And then he proceeds to talk about what happens in Petri dishes, which, everyone except the super-fundies are fine with. Trying to end Intelligent Design by shoving evolution in someone's face is like trying to prove there is no such thing as a carpenter by shoving a hammer in someone's face.

Off the Cuff misunderstands Obama's elitism:

Such is the frame in which Senator Obama has been cast by many of his opponents. It would appear that he is an Ivy League, white wine sipping, arugula eating elitist. That is the new dirty word in American politics. If you are smart or refined, worldly or intellectual in any way, it would appear that you are an “elitist.” The tone often accompanying this pronouncement reminds me of when people were hit with labels like “commie” or “pinko.” It is meant as an insult; a sort of cultural betrayal.

Now, according to Off the Cuff's definition, I am an elitist, but mysteriously, I do not experience this intense dislike that Obama seems to experience. Perhaps it has something to do with actually respecting the human person. Perhaps Obama would like to call me, so that I could teach him how to talk about God, guns, and moms from Alaska without sneering. Of course, it would be far better for him to learn about life, sound economic policy, defense, and a whole host of other things he'd actually needs to know to be president, but I realize we are on a schedule here.

And finally, the Democratic party should find a padded cell for this woman, if they want to continue to exist for a few years. Pelosi says the Democrats in congress bear no responsibility for the state of the economy. The proof is in the accusation. She claims Bush 'mismanaged' the economy. Anyone who thinks the economy can be 'managed' is not fit for office. The government keeps inflating the money supply. The corporations came up with mortgage backed derivatives. Patents and intellectual property are choking innovation. Is there a Democrat who actually dislikes any of this?

It's tough to do business when you don't know the value of anything. What we need more than ever is for these people to get their hands out of the pot. If they would stop stirring everything up, trying to create the illusion of growth, we could get on with the painful process of letting everything settle out, so that we can see where we are. Real estate is still actually worth something- it's just that we won't know what exactly it is worth until everything filters out. We could actually be doing pretty well, but we won't know until they stop muddying up the water.

Anyway, I must end this before I launch into an entire lecture.
