The Religious Versus the Socialist

Anna on the great divide in Israel:

Those who don't live in Israel, especially non-Jews, have a hard time to realize how profoundly Israeli Jewish population is divided between the religious and the secular.

Her post is worth reading because one of the big differences she highlights is the different veiwpoints on family. The religious, who happen to be worshipping the God of the Living, inevitably seek family life. The secular follow the tradition of the socialists, seeking meaning in groups- military, corporation, government, etc... The whole concept of a life defined by a career is part of this error.
