Jeffrey Tucker describes the sensible policy:

It seems like a universal principle: those who are out of power favor free markets more than those in power. So the agenda seems clear: keep everyone out of power.

I enjoyed Neil Stephenson's Snow Crash, but I was vaguely unsatified because he never really explained how the government devolved into one tribe among many. They still have so much power, and most Americans still seem content to allow them to operate.
