It seems, especially compared to the vaccination debate, really easy to just skip the ultrasound.

See, you think it would be easy to skip, but call just about any doctor's office and they'll inform you that an ultrasound is required at the first visit to "confirm" due dates. That and a pap smear, but even if they found cervical cancer, they couldn't start treatment until after the baby was born! It's just dumb.
We're not getting an ultrasound unless the midwife thinks it's needed, and she isn't pushy on such things.
