The Day Reminds Me

The Company is one of my favorite movies. It doesn't have a traditional plot. It is based on vignettes comprising a season with the Joffrey Ballet. This movie was made with humility; to say it was made in a documentary style doesn't quite cover it, because many documentaries are full of hubris. Instead, I'd say there was a willingness to let themselves be small, so that they could catch the essence of the ballet. The result is that you can imagine yourself there, in the audience, knowing the dancers- and experience both the enjoyment and concern as the rain hits the stage.
The music is a version of My Funny Valentine, which is used, in various forms, as a theme in the movie.
