Annoyance From the USCCB

Father Powell excerpts a document on preaching:

“The ultimate goal of proclaiming the Gospel is to lead people into a loving and intimate relationship with the Lord, a relationship that forms the character of their persons and guides them in living out their faith.”

During the rise of Christianity, if anyone preached, they tended to concern themselves with catechesis and exegesis.

This is the fall of Christianity. A cariacture. Just as some women like fantasizing about vampires, others, apparently, like imagining a liaison with the Triune God. I can't stand contemporary Christain music, nor do I find very much milk or meat in the saccharine blather our bishops apparently want us to hear.

This is not a new idea. It does not answer our problem; it is part of the problem.
