Sunday Thinking

One of last Sunday's readings was from Jeremiah:

In those days, the princes said to the king:
“Jeremiah ought to be put to death;
he is demoralizing the soldiers who are left in this city,
and all the people, by speaking such things to them;
he is not interested in the welfare of our people,
but in their ruin.”

Poor Jeremiah. I wonder if that's why there's so little prophecy today. It's very frightening to get up and say something contradictory, especially since every other word you hear is comforting or supporting of the current agenda.

Well, at least it's less likely anyone will be killed.
