Celia Green finds a sense of freedom in the ten commandments. Celia is a philosopher, psychologist, but not a believer. But, since she is extremely intelligent and has had ample opportunity to learn about the evils of collectivism, she often notices what other academics miss.
Celia points out that the ten commandments reflect a prototype of a territorial morality, in which the person is defined as a territory over which the individual has sovereignty over self. This territorial aspect can also be found in the New Testament, especially in Luke, Chapter 11. We seem to get bogged down into the demonology, rather than noticing the usage of territory as metaphor for the person.
This sort of reasoning leads to the concept of individual freedom.
To win a battle, we must know the territory.
