We may be witnessing the largely self-inflicted destruction of Nancy Pelosi's political career. First, saying the CIA lied doesn't play well in the land of bureaucrats. I'm sure Pelosi's own staffers don't have much love for the CIA, but ultimately, they have more in common with non-elected, salaried bureaucrats than with that strange female from San Francisco.
Second, Pelosi isn't very helpful to the President, despite her willingness to sing his praises. She's pretty obviously a problem child. From an in-party perspective, dethroning her and finding someone to take her place- and potentially strengthening one's own position- is an attractive proposition for any Democrat with any leverage right now.
I can't think of any Democrat that would really be willing to back her, especially if, as I suspect, Obama would prefer to be rid of her.
